The NDG Major Lynx (11-12 yrs old) and Drummondville Redsox played on July 23 in what could have been the 1st of two over two days, to determine who would earn the right to represent Little League Quebec at the Canadian Little League championships in Glace Bay, NS.
According to Ken Quinn, director of communications of the NDG Minor Baseball League, the game was close throughout, and even tied at 5-5 for a time, but in the end the Major Lynx never trailed in the game and took it 7-5. The Lynx win cemented the team as the LLQ representatives in Glace Bay. Their schedule in Glace Bay is as follows (times eastern):
August 2nd at 12 pm Major Lynx vs. Ontario
August 3rd at 10 am Major Lynx vs. Maritimes
August 4th at 1 pm Major Lynx vs. Alberta
August 5th at 10 am Major Lynx vs. British Columbia
August 6th at 10 am Major Lynx vs. Saskatchewan
August 8th at 3P pm Major Lynx vs. Glace Bay
The top 4 teams after the round robin advance to the semi finals. The winner of this tournament advances to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA.
The Major Lynx victory brings to 3 the number of NDG teams that have advanced to the national tournaments in their age categories out of a possible 4 teams, a fact
we are all proud of.
The Big League Lynx (17 - 18 yrs old) were 1 victory away from representing Canada at the Big League World Series and the Junior Lynx (13-14 yra old) will travel to Lethbridge, AB for the chance to represent Canada at the Junior League World Series in Taylor, Michigan.
