The NDG Community Centre and the indoor swimming pool at 3757 Prud’homme Ave. are temporarily closed and all activities have been suspended indefinitely.
According to a news release issued Monday evening, engineers detected an anomaly on a gas line while conducting an inspection of the heating system.
No leak was detected, but those in charge of the building decided not to take any chances and recommended that the Centre and the pool be closed pending completion of a more exhaustive examination by a specialized firm to establish the cause and seriousness of the anomaly, and to determine the corrective measures required.
The borough’s culture, sports, recreation and social development department is contacting affected groups and organizations in order to find ways of dealing with the suspension of activities.
