The Plaza Côte-des-Neiges, the oldest shopping centre in Côte-des-Neiges, has thrived for decades, but it’s visibly aging.
Last week, Nathan Pollack of Tower Building Management said it’s too early to talk about any major changes in the near future, but renovations to the washrooms are planned for this summer.
Built in 1973, it’s still a very busy place to shop, eat, or just spend some time. You can still buy a pair of pants there for a dollar. Regular shoppers have grown accustomed to the slightly rundown look. Many plants have been removed and others sport a good coat of dust.
Back in 2007 the owners had plans to change the Plaza into a university campus with residences but that didn’t pan out.
In 2012 $3 million was spent redoing the parking lot and plans were made to revamp the interior of the mall within three to five years. The Plaza currently has around 100 stores anchored by the Walmart Supercentre, Canadian Tire, Marché Fu Tai and the Cineplex Odeon.
