Louise O’Sullivan, mayoral candidate for Parti Montréal Ville-Marie, introduced another member of the team on Monday as she announced the candidature of George Pentsos for the Loyola district. The event took place at one of George’s restaurants, Souvlaki George on Sherbrooke West.
“He came to this country over twenty years ago with nothing. Now, he is surrounded by a large family, has not one but five restaurants, he is a person who works night and day, someone who is deeply rooted to his neighbourhood,” said O’Sullivan.
George intends to work to rebuild the image of the district of Loyola, all the while bringing a more human approach to the table.
“I’m very happy to be here with my new family and with all my friends and supporters,” he said Monday. “I believe in myself, I believe in what I have done, and I will be so happy to give back everything that I’ve received over the years from this neighbourhood.”
George’s plan in this election is to be a voice for the people. “We must evaluate our strengths and determine what the priorities are for us and our borough. We must always be there for the citizens, even if there is a conflict of interest.”
He wants to revitalize the area and make it safer and more environmentally friendly. He says since he came from Greece, the area has gone downhill. “We must put a lot of emphasis on the environment, on the greenery, on the cleanliness and on the safety of the neighbourhood that we are so proud of.”
“There is a lot left to do in order for us to have a beautiful, clean city,” said O’Sullivan. “We want economic development. That is the cornerstone of our campaign. And who better than an entrepreneur like George, who came here with very little and has created jobs for Canadians. We have a winning team here, and we’re here to win the election.”
